Its origins date back to 1834 when a British officer named Captain Armstrong established a military encampment which he named Fort Adelaide
after the wife of King William IV. Adelaide is a beef, mutton, wool and citrus farming district.
Midgley's Hotel
The oldest portion of the hotel dates back to 1858 and faces onto the town square. It was built by the Midgley family as an hotel and has remained so ever since.
